Connection & Purpose

Intern Spotlight: Annia Blasi, Fitness Intern

During her time at Meadowlark, Fitness Intern Annia Blasi brought a thoughtful, relationship-centered approach to wellness and exercise. A student at Kansas State University studying Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology, Annia embraced the opportunity to learn not only about physical health, but about the people behind each wellness journey.

“What I have most enjoyed is meeting residents and hearing their stories of resilience, hope, and joy,” Annia shared. “I have loved the relational element of my time at Meadowlark and getting to know every person I’ve met. Exercise and health are so personal to the individual.”

Her experience reinforced the importance of looking at wellness through a broader lens. Annia noted that the aging process is multifaceted, and that social connection and a sense of purpose are essential components of well-being. She also emphasized that compassion and individualized attention are the foundation of any successful exercise program.

A particularly meaningful part of her internship was working alongside staff supporting individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. “I have learned that people with Parkinson’s are incredibly resilient,” she said. “It has been inspiring to see how staff use their skills to transform not only people’s ability to move, but also their confidence.”

Annia plans to graduate in December 2026 and remain in the Manhattan area while preparing to apply for graduate school in therapy.

Her time at Meadowlark reflects the powerful intersection of science, compassion, and human connection. We are grateful for the care and insight she brought to our community and look forward to all she will accomplish in the future.
